what does a postpartum doula do?
Think of a Postpartum Doula as an extra set of hands. Everything parents do (aside from bodyfeeding), I do. With each visit, I work with families to set a basic agenda for the day. That agenda could include things like caring for baby while parents tend to their basic needs, knowledge sharing, cooking meals, light housekeeping or organization, and beyond. The only thing a PP Doula cannot provide is newborn care without any family member present in the home.
practical support
I can care for your newborn while you take a shower, a nap, or feed yourself; or, if your’re simply feeling like you need a break. I can take care of dinner while you spend time with baby. I can accompany you on an errand or walk with your child. I can help reorganize an unruly closet that you’ve been eyeing all week.
informational support
I am a trained and certified Postpartum Doula, which means I have a wide-ranging knowledge base to pull from if and when you have questions about newborn or postpartum care. Additionally, if and when you need information or support I cannot provide, I pull from a vast network of refferal resources based on need.
emotional support
The fourth trimester, especially for new parents and for birthing people, presents a massive shift to daily life. As a parent myself, I pull from shared experience in providing an understanding an supportive voice while you manage this transition.
